Meet the Yoders!
With seven kids, the Yoder house is never boring. Having a big family can be difficult, but it can also be a lot of fun! Hear from Mia and Eva Yoder about what it’s like living in a house full of kids. Learn how they handle the good, the bad, and the everyday with their family.
SHINE brightly: I’d love to hear about how your family does Christmas! Do you have any special traditions?
Mia: Every year we tell the Christmas story in Luke 2 and then we pick out a gift for us to give as a family to someone in need. We usually use those catalogs where you can give someone in a developing country a goat or some chickens.
Eva: We also ice Christmas cookies and Grandma makes her butter cookies for us. We have lots of good food for Christmas.
Mia: And, every year we look in the Bible for things that Jesus loves and write them down on cards. Then we pick a few cards as a family. For Christmas, we have to think of an activity we can do together for each card. It’s our birthday gift to Jesus. Like, one year we went and rang Salvation Army bells for the afternoon. Another time, we babysat all the kids at our church whose parents were in a meeting. We do things like that.
Eva: And then we have a birthday party for Jesus! We give Him our gifts, which are all the things we did on the cards. It’s so fun!
