Following God’s Dreams

Hello! I’m Sarah Beth Marr. I am an author and speaker, and I love talking about dancing through life with God. I was a professional ballerina for more than 15 years, and I use dance as a way to talk about my faith. Here are a few tips about dancing and dreaming with God, just for you!

Stand Tall

Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.
1 Corinthians 16:13

Always remember the reasons why you, as God’s daughter, can stand tall. It’s so much easier to think about the world’s messages to you: you’re not good enough, not pretty enough, not successful enough, not smart enough, not . . . whatever . . . enough. But Jesus invites us to stand taller and know the sweet truth that He is enough and because of Him, we are enough. Something happens when we stand a little taller—our hearts dance and we reflect His light to a hurting world. Stand a little taller today in your heart and remember you are a chosen, adopted, and loved daughter of the King.

Deepen Your Plié

I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.
Ephesians 3:17–18

For a ballet dancer, a plié is probably the most important dance movement. A plié simply means to bend the knees. The deeper the plié, the bigger a dancer can jump. The deeper the plié, the more steady, and controlled a dancer becomes.

Dreaming with God and dancing daily with Him through life takes a lot out of us. And we all are busy girls! But even when you have a lot going on, remember you can’t live well if you aren’t going deeper with Jesus. Going deeper can mean spending more time with God, or asking Him to teach you something. When you don’t spend time going deep with God, you can easily become worn-out and tired.
