Starry Night Light

On a clear night, go outside and look at the sky. How many stars can you see? Can you point out any constellations, or satellites? How big does the sky look from where you are?

When God made the universe, He filled it with billions of stars. We are only one small planet in a huge galaxy, called the Milky Way, and that’s just one galaxy in the whole universe. You are the tiniest dot on earth, which is the tiniest dot in the Milky Way, which is the tiniest dot in the universe. Kind of makes you feel smaller than an ant, doesn’t it?

But here’s the amazing part. God created skies full of stars that He knows by name (Psalm 147:4), and still He wants YOU. Out of the entire universe, you are His favorite creation. No one’s love can compare to a love like that.

Remind yourself of God’s amazing love this month with these fun galaxy crafts. Never forget that you are worth more than billions of stars!

What You Need

  • Glass jar or candle holder
  • Flameless tea light
  • Black tissue paper
  • Mod podge or liquid glue
  • White, pink, and blue acrylic paint
  • Paintbrush for glue
  • Sponge
  • Regular paintbrush
  • Glitter

Directions

  1. Tear up the black tissue paper into small pieces.
  2. Grab your glass jar and put a piece of tissue paper on the outside. Paint over the tissue paper with the mod podge or glue to attach it to the jar.
  3. Keep going with the tissue paper until it covers the outside of the jar. Let the glue dry.
  4. Before the glue is completely dry, sponge swirls of blue and pink to the outside of the jar. Dot with white stars.
  5. Add glitter carefully around the whole jar. If the glue has dried too much, you might need to add a little more to make sure the glitter sticks.
  6. Shake off extra glitter and let the jar dry. Once it’s dry, put your tea light inside and watch the stars come to life!
