Clothes Shopping Tips!
  • Be Bargain Conscious Not bargain Blinded: Even if it’s a fabulous deal, if it doesn’t fit right or you have nothing to wear with it, it’s not a bargain. Leave it in the store.
  • Read the Labels Before You Buy: Is it washable, or does it require dry cleaning? Is it 100% cotton, which will need ironing? Check the fiber content for shrinkage and tendency to fade, which will increase with more natural fibers. The brand name on the label can tell you you’re getting a good quality product or it can just mean you’re paying extra to have the “designer” name. How much is it worth to you?
  • Check the Fit: Don’t open your purse until you’ve seen yourself in a three-way mirror. Do the side seams hang straight? Do the shoulders lay smooth? Does the waistline pull or gap? Can you move freely in the garment? Does it ride up or bind when you sit down? Is it best for your body shape? Does it fit your personality?
  • Shop Outlet, Discount, Resale or Thrift Shops: You can find great brand names with slight to no imperfections for a real price break at outlet or discount stores. Many times items in resale stores are not worn out, but rather out-grown or simply discarded. Check out thrift stores for stylin’ clothes at great prices! Try on clothes before you purchase. No matter what the price tags says, it’s not a great deal if it doesn’t have a great fit.
  • Accessorize: Add hats, jewelry, belts, socks, scarves, and purses to your current wardrobe. These items transform basic items into multiple outfits, plus they’re just plain fun.

Great Quotes:

When I’m trying to decide what to wear, I always ask, “Would God approve of this?” Or maybe, “If somebody else was wearing this, what would I think of that person?” We have to represent [God] well, not only in what we do and say but even in what we wear.
Tina Atkins
As you walk through the mall or flip through a magazine, be watching for warning signs. Often the teen magazines and clothing departments are highlighting a look that is totally anti-Christian.
Michelle Grover
God is way more interested in how we live than how we dress, because that’s what truly makes us beautiful.
